Job Overview

This role involves providing essential support and guidance to individuals in our GRIT program, a 16-bed facility designed for young men aged 18 and older dealing with co-occurring substance use and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities

The Residential Recovery Specialist will:

  • Supervise resident activities to ensure adherence to program guidelines.
  • Contribute to a therapeutic environment that promotes recovery, while being sensitive to trauma and gender considerations.
  • Implement individualized interventions as outlined in each resident's treatment plan.
  • Assist residents in completing daily living tasks, including meal preparation, household upkeep, transportation, and engaging in recovery and relapse-prevention strategies.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, prioritize responsibilities, and collaborate within a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with proficient organizational abilities.
  • Capacity to adapt to the evolving needs of program participants.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating patience, empathy, and compassion.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain certifications in medication administration (MAP), CPR, and first aid.
  • Experience in fostering a supportive community within a diverse, multicultural residential environment.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance coverage are preferred.
Education and Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals affected by homelessness, mental health issues, trauma, or substance use is advantageous.
