Position Overview

Faculty members at Dallas College are expected to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the formal job description and adhere to the policies and procedures established by the Dallas College Board of Trustees, as well as comply with state and federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree, be eligible for a Texas state veterinary license and DEA license, and have a minimum of three years of clinical practice experience. The faculty member will be responsible for providing preventive health care to animals in teaching labs for the Veterinary Technology program, overseeing sedation and anesthesia procedures, performing basic surgical procedures (such as spaying and neutering), and diagnosing and treating conditions in animals on campus. This role involves 60% teaching and 40% clinical veterinary care.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in the teaching discipline or a related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.
  • One year of demonstrated teaching experience is required.
  • Official transcripts will be required.
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver instruction in assigned classes in alignment with course descriptions and learning outcomes.
  • Provide students with a syllabus that includes institutional policies, course objectives, materials, and evaluation methods.
  • Maintain accurate course records and submit final grades on time.
  • Communicate effectively with students and provide timely feedback.
  • Develop and enhance course curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Utilize diverse teaching methods to cater to varied learning styles.
  • Regularly assess student learning and participate in assessment activities.

Institutional Service

  • Support the college's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Engage in departmental and college meetings and committees.
  • Participate in curriculum review and selection of instructional materials.
  • Attend required college events and ceremonies.

Professional Development

  • Maintain expertise in the academic discipline.
  • Stay current with technological and pedagogical advancements.
  • Engage in various professional development activities.
