Position Overview

Faculty members at Dallas College are expected to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the formal job description and adhere to the policies established by the Dallas College Board of Trustees, as well as comply with state and federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent, be eligible for a Texas state veterinary license and DEA license, and have a minimum of three years of demonstrated clinical practice experience. The faculty member will deliver preventive health care to animals involved in teaching labs within the Veterinary Technology program, supervise sedation and anesthesia procedures, perform basic surgical procedures on canines and felines, and diagnose and treat conditions affecting animals on campus. This role encompasses 60% teaching responsibilities and 40% clinical veterinary care.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in the teaching discipline or a related concentration (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
  • One year of demonstrated teaching experience.
  • Official transcript required.
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver instruction in assigned courses according to established course descriptions and learning outcomes.
  • Provide students with a syllabus detailing institutional policies, course objectives, materials, and evaluation methods.
  • Maintain accurate course records and submit final grades by established deadlines.
  • Utilize diverse teaching methods to enhance student learning.
  • Regularly assess and evaluate student learning outcomes.

Institutional Engagement

  • Support the college's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Participate in departmental and college meetings.
  • Engage in curriculum review and selection of instructional materials.

Professional Development

  • Stay current in the academic discipline and maintain necessary certifications.
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
