Tufts University is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Senior Library Assistant, Billing Specialist to join our team at Tisch Library. As a key member of the Access Services Department, you will provide exceptional library services to students, faculty, and staff, while also managing billing and fees for the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Library Services: Respond to inquiries, resolve problems, and make referrals to specialist librarians or other departments as needed.
  • Manage Billing and Fees: Oversee the billing process, communicate with patrons, and resolve user account issues.
  • Lead Student Staff: Supervise student staff, assign tasks, and provide guidance on library operations.
  • Open Library Operations: Ensure a smooth start to the day by opening the library, checking in materials, and performing other opening duties.
  • Document and Collaborate: Create and maintain department documentation, collaborate with other departments, and ensure a smooth and equitable patron billing process.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent: Knowledge and skills acquired through education or experience.
  • Customer Service Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple spreadsheets and workflows simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Library Experience: Familiarity with integrated library management systems and discovery tools.
  • TouchNet Payment System: Experience with online payment systems.
  • Higher Education Environment: Experience working in a higher education setting.
Compensation

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity. New hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range: $24.30 - $28.90 per hour.
