Your Role

We're seeking a talented Senior API Engineer to join our performance team, working closely with our CTO to optimize and extend our APIs. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance APIs, ensuring they're secure, reliable, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities

  • You'll lead the migration of our APIs to a modern, standardized architecture, using OAuth 2.0 for authentication and authorization.
  • You'll work closely with our DevOps team to implement logging and monitoring, ensuring timely detection of potential issues.
  • You'll design and implement performance tests for high-usage calls, using tools like K6 to identify areas for improvement.
  • You'll collaborate with our development team to optimize existing APIs, implementing new features and functionalities.
  • You'll ensure our APIs are well-documented, using OpenAPI and ReadMe to provide clear instructions for developers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails, with a strong focus on performance optimization.
  • Expertise in JavaScript, with experience in coding for performance test harnesses.
  • Experience building high-throughput Ruby/Rails back-ends, with knowledge of query optimization and web stack tuning.
  • Familiarity with OpenAPI, Kong, and Datadog is a plus.
  • A proven track record in bringing clarity to ambiguous situations and facilitating technical discussions.
