Job Title: Shelter Manager

At Ouachita Children's Center, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Shelter Manager to join our team. The Shelter Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to our Direct Care Staff, ensuring the highest level of care and support for our shelter residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with OCYFS's mission, policies, and procedures, as well as Arkansas licensing regulations.
  • Identify and coordinate training needs for Direct Care Staff, including individual training and mentoring.
  • Participate in interviews for potential new Direct Care Staff and ensure proper medication administration and documentation.
  • Review client files and log documentation for timely entries and adequate information.
  • Ensure organization and inventory of expendable supplies and notify staff of any needs.
  • Monitor cleanliness, organization, and functionality of shelter areas, furnishings, and equipment.
  • Conduct and assist with client intakes and discharges, as well as checking completion of closed-out files.
  • Attend and assist with client activities, as needed, in cooperation with the Residential Services Director.
  • Accept and document shelter donations, as needed.
  • Assist with supervision, care, and safety of shelter residents during routine shifts.
  • Participate in weekly shelter client staff meetings to share and learn information about individual clients.
  • Participate in agency performance quality improvement and serve on assigned committees.
  • Assist with development of a yearly plan that supports OCYFS's long-term strategic goals.
  • Review performance quality improvement reports to identify areas of needed improvement and participate in developing and implementing solutions.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, as scheduled by the Case Management Director.
Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree preferred in a related field, plus one year's experience in managing a child care facility, or High School Diploma/GED and three years' experience in managing a child care facility.
  • Pass a drug screen and maintain a current TB card.
  • Must have a current Arkansas Driver's license and be insurable under OCYFS's commercial vehicle insurance policy.
  • Must receive child maltreatment clearance through the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry.
  • Must receive adult maltreatment clearance through Arkansas Protective Services-Adult Maltreatment Central Registry.
  • Must receive Arkansas State Police criminal background clearance, as mandated by Arkansas Department of Human Services, Minimum Licensing Standards for Child Welfare Agencies.
