Job Summary
The Ophthalmic Assistant - Clinical Support Specialist provides critical support to ophthalmologists and optometrists in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists with patient care, including preparing patients for exams and procedures
- Perform various clinical tasks, such as taking intraocular pressure readings and performing refractometry
- Enter patient information into the electronic medical record system
- Restock and clean exam rooms, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients
- Conduct area sweeps to maintain a clean and organized workspace
Requirements
- JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- 1 year of experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology practice
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, and sterilization techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
