Certified Ophthalmic Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our physicians and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists with clerical and clinical duties, ensuring the smooth operation of their practices.
- Perform ophthalmic testing, including refractions, and higher-level testing as needed.
- Collect and document patient information, including medical history, medications, and allergies.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of fee sheets and data entry into our electronic medical record system.
- Assist with in-office procedures, administer ocular medications, and educate patients on proper use.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with our team to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient use of resources.
- JCAHPO certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).
- 1 year of experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology practice.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, and sterilization techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
