Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at the University of Washington's Eye Institute. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our acute eye care program, working closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Assist with complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures, including ophthalmic imaging tests and patient intake activities.
- Work with the acute eye care medical team to develop and maintain a high-quality acute eye care program, prioritizing responsiveness, timeliness, compassion, and safety.
- Perform routine technical procedures, administer topical medications, and assist with procedures as delegated by physicians.
- Demonstrate proactive, professional communication across and within the department to facilitate smooth workflow and ensure departmental representation.
Requirements
- Completion of an approved ophthalmic technician program and one year of experience, or equivalent education/experience.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification is preferred.
