Position Responsibilities:

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Systems Technician to ensure the effective operation of our maintenance services. This role requires full-time commitment, operating Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. The technician will be responsible for servicing multiple educational institutions in the region, utilizing a company vehicle for transportation.

The ideal candidate will execute both scheduled and emergency maintenance tasks, possessing a comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing, pumps, heating systems, air handling units (AHUs), water systems, and Legionella control measures.

Key Duties Include:

  • Assisting in the delivery of maintenance services in accordance with contractual obligations, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution.
  • Supporting the Hard Services Manager in the daily operations of the Greenwich School contract.
  • Providing flexible support for additional contracts as needed, particularly during staff shortages.
  • Collaborating with the Hard Services Manager to meet service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Conducting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks within the scope of expertise and ensuring timely completion.
  • Monitoring work in progress (WIP) to facilitate job closure through the designated system.
  • Maintaining compliance records for mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring readiness for audits.
  • Submitting all required documentation and data as requested by management.
  • Ensuring high standards of health and safety are upheld across all sites.
  • Overseeing site documentation and maintenance logs to guarantee adherence to scheduled maintenance.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Qualifications:

  • NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent qualifications in plumbing or mechanical maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial boilers, pressurization systems, and HVAC technology.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the building or maintenance sector.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with PFI school contracts.
  • Prior experience in a similar maintenance role.
  • Asbestos awareness certification.
  • Knowledge of water management, including Legionella and temperature testing.
