Position Overview
Cleveland Construction is in search of a seasoned Traveling Superintendent to oversee the planning, scheduling, and management of subcontractors and workforce. The primary objective is to ensure that all work aligns with project specifications, adheres to timelines, and maintains a robust site safety program in accordance with the company's safety guidelines.
Project Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in retail, hotel/hospitality, or multi-family projects. This role requires flexibility to travel along the east coast, assisting with both short-term and long-term projects currently underway in various states.
Key Responsibilities:
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of all project documentation, including specifications, plans, submittals, and contracts.
- Implement and uphold the company's safety policies and site-specific safety protocols, fostering a culture of safety on-site.
- Communicate effectively through verbal, written, or electronic means with all project team members.
- Exhibit strong leadership capabilities to organize and manage all project aspects, including personnel, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Oversee and document daily activities on the project site.
- Demonstrate proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.
- Establish and maintain a worker orientation program for new employees on-site.
- Ensure compliance with the company's public safety program to protect non-construction personnel.
- Possess advanced knowledge of OSHA regulations and successfully manage OSHA site visits.
- Maintain and communicate the project schedule effectively.
- Enforce the company's quality control measures.
- Coordinate all necessary field inspections and keep an inspection log.
- Manage all company documentation requirements, including daily reports, photographs, manpower reports, and safety talks.
- Participate in weekly coordination meetings, generate minutes, and distribute them accordingly.
- Review monthly pay applications in collaboration with the project manager.
- Verify that all necessary insurances and certifications are in place before project commencement.
Professional Relationships:
- Represent the company positively and professionally at all times.
- Work collaboratively with all project stakeholders.
- Support the company's growth and develop programs that benefit both the organization and the employee's career progression.
- Communicate clearly with project teams, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Foster positive relationships with subcontractors and vendors through professional and fair dealings.
Physical Requirements:
- Reliable transportation to and from project sites.
- Willingness to travel or relocate based on project needs.
- Able to work in various outdoor conditions, including extreme weather.
- Capable of accessing all areas of the job site, including elevated surfaces.
- Physically able to perform tasks that may include kneeling, standing, or lifting up to 75 pounds.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in using personal computers and tablet devices.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and construction-related software.
- Familiarity with web-based document management systems.
Qualifications:
- Preferred four-year degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the commercial construction sector.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing on-site project teams to successful completions.
