Role Summary
The Project Engineer II will assist in executing routine construction and field responsibilities for various projects, applying construction fundamentals and adhering to company best practices, standards, and resources.

Key Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer II, you will:

  • Engage in all aspects of the company's safety and quality initiatives, promoting an injury-free workplace through personal actions and mentoring.
  • Contribute to project quality assurance and quality control planning.
  • Participate in estimating and change management processes, including quantity take-offs and subcontractor proposal reviews.
  • Support on-site project teams with monitoring crew sizes, self-perform hours, materials, and equipment.
  • Assist in punch list activities, city inspections, safety and quality reviews, and documentation preparation.
  • Update and maintain project drawings and specifications.
  • Organize and participate in project meetings, preparing necessary documentation.
  • Compile various reports, including daily and weekly progress updates, to support project management.
  • Conduct periodic site observations with project leadership.
  • Create procurement logs based on project schedules and specifications, tracking shop drawings and deliveries.
  • Provide updates to the project team to facilitate scheduling processes.
  • Assist in project closeout activities, including punch lists and maintenance manuals.
  • Utilize best practices in construction techniques and methodologies.
  • Foster relationships and enhance communication skills with tradespeople and project team members.
  • Develop an understanding of the various functions within the company and their contributions to project success.
  • Collaborate effectively within project teams.
  • Integrate Lean practices into daily activities.
  • Identify and develop self-perform opportunities within projects.

Additional Responsibilities
This position will also involve:

  • Implementing project safety plans and fostering a culture of compliance through training and communication.
  • Assisting in the preparation of estimates, schedules, and daily logs.
  • Pre-planning crew activities and fulfilling daily task requirements.
  • Supporting project administration in relevant company technologies.
  • Managing subcontractor scopes of work in collaboration with the project team.
  • Controlling costs by evaluating and enhancing task processes.
  • Participating in project quality assurance and quality control planning.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of project crew schedules.
  • Providing analysis for materials and equipment costs on-site.
  • Supporting the training and mentoring of less experienced team members.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of construction experience.
  • The ability to perform tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of construction technology and Lean processes.
  • The ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively within teams.

Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and may be required to travel or relocate. The role may involve working non-traditional hours and exposure to varying environmental conditions.
