Job Overview

Position Summary: Oversee a dedicated team of engineers and CAD specialists (approximately 5 members) focused on General/Physical Layout and Protection & Control packages within substation design initiatives. The selected candidate will serve as the primary engineer for the majority of outputs generated by the team, while also managing client relationships and pursuing business growth with select partners. This role reports directly to the Divisional Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties Include:

  • Supervising and organizing the workflow of engineers, designers, and CAD operators within the assigned team.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients to ensure project management and customer satisfaction, while also identifying future business opportunities and project plans.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in various aspects of substation engineering, including physical layout design, protection/control design, relay settings programming, field support, substation commissioning, and relay testing.
  • Conducting and overseeing project design activities, which involve performing engineering calculations, utilizing design software, and adhering to relevant engineering standards and manuals.
  • Preparing and directing the creation of complex project documentation, including specifications and bid materials.
  • Reviewing and directing detailed drawing evaluations, ensuring that plans are a clear and comprehensive graphical representation of the design intent.
  • Supervising and mentoring Project Engineers I and II within the division.
  • Utilizing basic functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Maintaining effective communication with employees across all organizational levels.
  • Executing other related tasks as necessary.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required, along with a minimum of eight years of relevant experience. A Professional Engineer license is also mandatory.
