Job Overview:

Hitachi Energy is on the lookout for an Electrical Project Engineer to join our North America Grid Integration Business Unit. Our Grid Integration sector is witnessing significant expansion in areas such as electric vehicle charging systems, high voltage direct current initiatives, power consulting, power quality solutions, and semiconductor technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engineering Development: Ensure comprehensive engineering development by incorporating all multidisciplinary information.
  • Lead the creation of innovative solutions for intricate projects and challenges.
  • Oversee the completion of all engineering tasks associated with the project.
  • Coordinate the electrical engineering discipline across multiple projects.
  • Provide technical assistance during testing, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Develop work plans and cost estimates, reviewing and approving project scope, budget, and schedule to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Engage directly with clients, officials, contractors, and supply chain partners.
  • Clarify facts, policies, and practices relevant to the job area.
  • Design and implement projects in accordance with customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct risk and opportunity assessments, ensuring the implementation of necessary actions within your area of responsibility.
  • Deliver cost-effective quality solutions that meet customer requirements while adhering to safety standards.
  • Prepare manufacturing documents for control and protection systems.
  • Draft design drawings for FACTS plants.
  • Compile specifications and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for various components.
  • Manage procurement of control and protection systems and related components.
  • Collaborate with other departments including Mechanical, Control, System Design, Construction, and Commissioning.
  • Review and coordinate vendor/supplier drawings for electrical deliverables.
  • Evaluate sub-suppliers and select based on project specifications.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare As-Built Drawings.
  • Embody Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for actions while supporting colleagues and the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • Must possess work authorization to be employed by Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code and ANSI/IEEE standards.
  • Preferred knowledge of FACTS or high voltage transmission substation solutions.
  • Experience in Control and Protection cubicle design is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of relay configuration is beneficial.
  • Experience with E3 software is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering License or the ability to obtain one is an asset.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams while also independently tackling complex projects.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Dynamic, proactive, and eager to embrace challenges and grow within the organization.
