Position Overview:

The Engineering and Science Services and Capabilities Augmentation (ESSCA) contract provides essential engineering, scientific, and technical support. Our Aerosciences Team is a high-performing group engaged in complex tasks that support various significant programs. This exciting work plays a crucial role in advancing human exploration beyond Earth.

Our ESSCA Team Leads act as first-line supervisors, overseeing task orders and personnel while ensuring compliance with performance standards. They are responsible for acquiring and developing high-performing individuals through structured human resources processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a strong and effective team to meet the needs of our clients and management.
  • Provide technical supervision, assigning and balancing team skills across various tasks.
  • Collaborate with management to assign and develop lead personnel for specific tasks.
  • Oversee resource allocation, tracking, and control for tasks and subtasks.
  • Ensure the technical performance of individuals and teams, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Confirm the quality of work produced by team members and implement processes for performance management.
  • Train and develop team members through various methods, including on-the-job training and formal classes.
  • Forecast future resource and skill needs in collaboration with management.
  • Identify and manage risks related to cost, technical requirements, and schedules.
  • Implement safety programs and lead by example in promoting a culture of safety.
  • Conduct hiring functions, including defining requirements and leading the recruitment process.
  • Establish employee goals, conduct performance evaluations, and support disciplinary processes as necessary.
  • Manage travel and training requests for team members.
  • Oversee subcontracting requirements and collaborate with management on task assignments.

Team Leads will support operations by:

  • Ensuring excellent client relations and fostering a harmonious team environment.
  • Facilitating effective communication and collaboration with other team leads and management.
  • Supporting leadership in sharing best practices and exploring new work areas.
  • Leading personnel in the technical execution of tasks.
  • Promoting awareness of safety and client satisfaction among team members.
  • Ensuring the quality of technical work in accordance with performance management standards.

Qualifications:

A degree in a scientific or engineering discipline is required, with preference for candidates from ABET-accredited institutions. Advanced degrees (MS or Ph.D.) are highly desirable. Candidates should possess significant experience in aerospace disciplines, with strong technical and leadership skills.

  • Technical leadership and management experience in aerospace.
  • Demonstrated skills in technical and systems management.
  • Expertise in aerosciences, aerothermal, or aerodynamics.
