About the Role:

The American Red Cross is actively seeking a Community Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator to spearhead a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing community resilience in the face of climate-related challenges. This role is essential in establishing and managing a network of community partners dedicated to improving food security, emergency shelter, and health services during climate emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess community needs to identify vulnerable populations and their resilience requirements.
  • Forge partnerships with local organizations focused on food security, housing, and health.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate partnerships into disaster preparedness and recovery efforts.
  • Evaluate partnership opportunities and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation of community adaptation initiatives through partner engagement and educational opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate collection of grant management and partner engagement data.
  • Foster diverse volunteer teams to lead Mission Adaptation activities.
  • Communicate program objectives and milestones effectively with stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed reports on partner engagement and program progress.
  • Assist in the development of promotional materials and communications.
  • Support disaster relief efforts as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Community Education, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years in a relevant field, ideally within a social services environment.
  • Experience in community mobilization and disaster recovery is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of disaster risk reduction, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Location: The position requires proximity to the designated operational area.
  • Travel: Some travel will be necessary for this role.
