About the Role

Waymo, a pioneer in autonomous driving technology, is seeking a skilled Machine Learning Infrastructure Training Specialist to join our team. As an integral part of our software engineering team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the training infrastructure used by model trainers across Waymo.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop the training infrastructure for large-scale models.
  • Evaluate the impact of these features on developer velocity and resource efficiency.
  • Collaborate with model owners to optimize tradeoffs between training efficiency and model quality.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of neural network training and related concepts.
  • Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • Experience with SQL.
  • Familiarity with distributed training methods for large-scale models.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices and version control systems.
Compensation and Benefits

This internship offers a competitive hourly rate of $60.10 USD, with opportunities to participate in Waymo's generous benefits programs. The internship will be based at our headquarters in Mountain View, CA.
