Job Summary

Harvard University's Office of Campus Planning is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Building Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in managing building operations, services, and building infrastructure projects for the smooth operation of a large building or small group of buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate small to mid-size projects and renovations, including overseeing subcontractors, managing contracts, and tracking budgets and timelines.
  • Work with the Director to implement sustainability initiatives and participate in greenhouse gas and energy reduction efforts.
  • Assist the Director in developing and maintaining building-related preventive maintenance, project budgets, and financial work.
  • Oversee and coordinate maintenance/repair work assignments performed by technicians, vendors, and contractors.
  • Respond to client inquiries and concerns, ensuring timely and quality service delivery.
  • Coordinate and manage move, add, and change activities.
  • Manage vendor relationships, process invoices, and ensure proper cost center coding.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with the facilities and operations team.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of building operations and/or project management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and familiarity of construction methods, documents, and specifications.
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Procore, Microsoft Project, and Excel.
  • Strong leadership, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with subcontractors, colleagues, clients, architects, and engineers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Proactive mindset with ability to minimize or eliminate risks to the School and department.
