The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, with experience in managing building operations, services, and infrastructure projects. They will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling small to mid-size projects and renovations, overseeing the workflow of subcontractors, and managing contracts, budgets, and timelines.

The Assistant Building Manager will also be responsible for reviewing, packaging, and processing submittals and shop drawings, tracking and updating subcontractor change order requests, site drawings, RFI's, and COR's. They will prepare project closeouts and manage meeting minutes, and work with the Director to implement sustainability initiatives and participate in greenhouse gas and energy reduction efforts.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with subcontractors, colleagues, clients, architects, and engineers. They will also have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to negotiate and minimize or eliminate risks to the School and department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage building operations, services, and infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate and schedule small to mid-size projects and renovations
  • Oversee the workflow of subcontractors
  • Manage contracts, budgets, and timelines
  • Review, package, and process submittals and shop drawings
  • Track and update subcontractor change order requests, site drawings, RFI's, and COR's

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of building operations and/or project management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and familiarity of construction methods, documents, and specifications
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Procore, Microsoft Project, and Excel
  • Strong leadership, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with subcontractors, colleagues, clients, architects, and engineers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Negotiation skills
  • Proactive mindset with ability to minimize or eliminate risks to the School and department

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Facilities Mgmt., Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

Benefits:

  • Paid Time Off: 3-4 weeks of accrued vacation time per year

Work Format:
