Job Summary

Mirum Pharmaceuticals is seeking a seasoned professional to lead its global patient advocacy efforts. As the Executive Director, Global Patient Advocacy, you will be responsible for building and implementing a comprehensive patient advocacy strategy that aligns with the company's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a global patient advocacy strategy that prioritizes patient needs and perspectives.
  • Lead a team of patient advocacy professionals in building and maintaining relationships with patient advocacy groups, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure patient advocacy insights are integrated into business development and indication expansion opportunities.
  • Represent Mirum at patient advocacy events, conferences, and scientific congresses to foster key connections with stakeholders.
  • Partner with patient advocacy groups to develop engagement plans, including clinical development recruitment activities, messaging, and patient-friendly materials.
  • Champion the patient advocacy team and serve as a liaison between patient advocacy groups and the Grants Review Committee.
  • Stay up-to-date on regional compliance regulations and policies to ensure proper engagement with patient advocacy groups.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree a plus).
  • 15+ years of progressive pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience with 12+ years of global patient advocacy/relevant professional experience.
  • Rare disease experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills, organizational planning skills, and experience defining the vision for the patient advocacy function.
  • Track record of building and leading high-functioning and collaborative teams.
  • Persuasive communication skills, ability to present ideas, and drive consensus within the commercial organization and across project teams.
  • Ability to collect, synthesize, and present data to leadership and across the organization.
  • Previous experience working successfully with global patient advocacy groups.
  • Desire and willingness to conduct primary project work and manage through a team.
  • Competency to prioritize, work well in ambiguity, be decisive, manage time, and be forward-thinking.
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve problems effectively.
  • Proven leader who motivates team members, fosters teamwork, and is willing to travel (approximately 50%) both domestically and internationally.
