Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist operates under the guidance of the Office Manager and/or Physician, taking charge of executing the nursing process grounded in extensive knowledge and experience. This role is pivotal in coordinating and delivering safe patient care while being mindful of age-specific and culturally sensitive needs. The nurse addresses the biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational requirements of patients and their families. Responsibilities include managing patient care in intricate scenarios, facilitating patient care activities, fostering staff development, and pursuing professional growth. The nurse is expected to perform job functions independently.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Exemplary Practice and Outcomes** - Executes the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care delivery, utilizing evidence-based practices. Employs analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care, fostering effective partnerships to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

2. **Patient-Centered Care** - Delivers relationship-based care that aligns with specific population characteristics (age, gender, disease, etc.), adapting service delivery to honor cultural diversity. Engages with patients and significant others using appropriate communication methods to keep them informed and focused on their care goals.

3. **Team Collaboration** - Coordinates the safe delivery and documentation of quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model. This includes diverse interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation, while fostering a respectful and inclusive clinical environment.

4. **Professional Development** - Completes all initial and ongoing competency assessments and mandatory education. Acts as a preceptor and mentor for other nursing professionals and students, ensuring a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.

5. **Evidence-Based Practice** - Advocates for evidence-based practices, nursing research, and performance improvement. Participates in decision-making processes regarding patient care products and adheres to all healthcare system policies and standards.

6. **Resource Management** - Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care. Engages in developing protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and team members to achieve best practice outcomes.

Qualifications:
- **Education:** Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
- **Licensure:** Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Georgia; certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- **Experience:** Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care in an acute care setting preferred.
- **Skills:** Proficient in English, strong customer service and interpersonal skills, ability to multitask, and function in high-pressure situations. Knowledge of the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act and assessment skills are essential.
