Key Responsibilities:

The HR Assistant will primarily oversee the hiring processes for Student Workers, excluding Federal Work Study Students. This includes conducting departmental needs assessments, managing budgets, performing background checks, and approving time cards. Additionally, this role will support payroll and HR functions by maintaining databases, updating reports, and organizing documentation. The HR Assistant will collaborate with HR Generalists, recruiters, and hiring managers to facilitate phone screenings, interview arrangements, and onboarding for staff positions within the university.

This position is classified as full-time but will require 30 hours of work per week on campus with a flexible schedule to be established upon hiring.



Essential Duties

  • Assist departments with all facets of student employment, including job postings, recruitment, interview coordination, paperwork processing, background checks, and onboarding.
  • Provide support to staff and faculty regarding general HR inquiries, including benefits, performance evaluations, recruitment practices, payroll, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee the payroll process for student workers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in time card reporting, including the correct entry of tax information and other payroll-related data.


Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience in Human Resources or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
