Position Summary:
The Veteran Healthcare Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting with the examination and treatment of patients experiencing various health issues within our outpatient clinic. Under the guidance of the clinical team, this position collaborates closely with healthcare professionals to ensure the effective implementation of patient care plans.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide essential support in patient care, including:
   a. Scheduling appointments and managing electronic orders.
   b. Conducting patient interviews and measuring vital signs, such as pulse, temperature, and blood pressure.
   c. Documenting patient information accurately in electronic medical records.
2. Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and medical equipment.
3. Operate diagnostic tools, including EKG machines and other medical devices, to perform routine tests.
4. Collect and process lab specimens for testing, ensuring compliance with protocols.
5. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes while maintaining confidentiality.
6. Assist in patient education regarding health management and available community resources.
7. Ensure inventory of medical supplies is maintained and ordered as necessary.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required.
- Completion of a 1-year vocational training program is necessary.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (NCMA, CMA, RMA, CMAA, etc.) is mandatory.
- Current Basic Life Support certification is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in medical terminology are required.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) is a must.
