Work Schedule
Monday to Friday; availability for every other weekend is essential.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Facilities Director with the comprehensive maintenance and care of our community. Key responsibilities include assisting with minor repairs, collaborating on identifying, inventorying, and executing necessary maintenance projects, both large and small.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility Maintenance Duties
- Review daily maintenance logs and complete assigned tasks within your scope of work, ensuring to initial and date each completed task.
- Conduct thorough inspections of furniture and arrange for necessary maintenance and deep cleaning with external vendors.
- Perform minor repairs, including but not limited to replacing faucet washers, fixing window latches, repairing toilet handles, unclogging drains, changing light bulbs, and maintaining door mechanisms.
- Assist in hanging bulletin boards, pictures, and other necessary items in resident suites and staff offices.
- Act as a point of contact for the Facilities Director, Executive Director, and external service providers.
- Handle touch-up painting, furniture refinishing, and the transportation of materials for proper disposal.
- Adhere to procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to avoid damage to floors and fixtures.
- Steam clean carpets as needed.
- Adjust heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, including filter changes.
- Manage waste disposal by gathering and emptying trash.
- Clear debris from outdoor areas, including porches and parking lots.
- Replace light bulbs throughout the facility.
- Document and notify supervisors regarding the need for major repairs or enhancements to building systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of infection control procedures.
- Ability to multitask and manage stress effectively.
- Understanding and commitment to the assisted living philosophy.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to meet customer needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exhibit tact and a helpful demeanor, essential for a customer-service-oriented environment.
