The Patient Access Specialist 2 is responsible for admitting and scheduling patients, performing insurance verifications, and offering financial guidance. This role is crucial in ensuring patient safety through effective problem-solving and communication skills. Active listening is essential when addressing customer concerns.

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrates genuine concern and empathy when addressing customer issues. Utilizes appropriate systems/services to verify insurance coverage or alternative payment methods. Communicates any scheduling modifications to patients, staff, physicians, and patient representatives promptly and professionally. Identifies and explains payroll authorization and referral requirements to patients. Clarifies insurance benefits and patient responsibilities using suitable communication techniques. Reports safety hazards or violations and takes necessary actions to safeguard the environment and guests until assistance arrives, if needed. Achieves a satisfactory volume of work with high accuracy while enhancing efficiency and reducing repetitive errors by revising existing workflow procedures. Recognizes when an issue requires escalation for resolution and involves others in the problem-solving process when additional input is necessary. May undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Additional Qualifications

Previous healthcare experience is preferred.

Experience - Minimum of 1 year in healthcare patient access or 1 year in healthcare revenue cycle, or a Bachelor's degree in lieu of experience.

Education - High School diploma or equivalent.
