Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Controls Technician - Systems Software Engineer II plays a crucial role in leveraging technical expertise to program databases, create custom graphics, and integrate these into Building Management Systems (BMS) for various projects. This position involves supporting the startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases. A comprehensive understanding of computer-operated systems, including different network types, is vital. The selected candidate will meticulously document all field conditions and commissioning activities while collaborating closely with the Project Manager and Project Engineering team to ensure projects are completed efficiently and successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

Systems Development: Spearhead the development of lower and mid-level control systems databases and programming.

Commissioning Support: Conduct initial point-to-point commissioning tasks and engage in final systems functional testing, including compliance with LEED and Title 24 standards.

Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to local and wide area networks.

Testing: Utilize computer hardware and software to execute pre-functional testing of system software code according to design sequences of operations.

Vendor Integration: Enhance skills for effective integration with various vendor products, systems, and protocols.

Field Coordination: Lead field coordination efforts with subcontractors and participate in project and commissioning meetings.

Training and Turnover: Facilitate end-user/customer system training and oversee the systematic transition of the project to the Service team.

Documentation: Assist Design Engineers in validating sequences of operations against contractual requirements.

Project Management: Collaborate with project staff to ensure accurate and timely recording of project costs, manage field time, and adhere to project budgets.

Safety: Complete OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 safety training and actively participate in the office safety program.

Mentorship: Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities for junior Systems Software Engineers.

Qualifications:

An Associate degree in a technical field or 2-5 years of relevant experience in building automation systems is required.

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude and technical training are essential.

Proficiency in MS Office, Windows, and basic TCP/IP network structure is necessary.

A valid driver's license is required.

The ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and deliver high-quality results is crucial.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
