Job Title: Automation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Specialist to play a critical role in supporting the integration of robotic automation into our laboratory. Your work will directly contribute to efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of the forensic services provided by the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualise and implement automation solutions to optimise laboratory workflows and processes.
  • Understand laboratory processes and collaborate with laboratory users to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Establish partnerships with relevant industries to co-develop and build robotic systems tailored to the laboratory needs.
  • Develop and execute validation protocols for the system to ensure they are operating within specification and are robust against errors.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain robotic system to ensure optimal performance.
  • Writing of SOPs and protocols related to the use of the automated system for casework.

Requirements:

  • Background in industrial design or a physical science related to Physics or Engineering.
  • Previous experience in designing and implementing robotic systems in a laboratory setting would be an advantage.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
  • Attention to details, exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical mindset.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently, prioritise tasks, set meaningful objectives, and complete assignments in a timely manner while maintaining a collaborative team spirit.
  • Good communication skills

The successful candidate would be offered a 1-year contract at the first instance, with option to renew annually for a further 2 years.
