Introduction

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our radiation oncology team at Johnston-Willis Hospital. As a radiation oncology nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our cancer treatment program.

Job Summary

This is a PRN opportunity for a Registered Nurse with experience in radiation oncology or oncology. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide care for patients receiving various forms of radiation therapy. Your expertise and passion for creating positive patient interactions will be valued and recognized.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans related to radiation oncology.
  • Collaborate with nurses, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, physicists, and radiation oncologists to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Educate patients and family members on radiation treatments and side effects, as well as provide emotional support and guidance throughout the treatment process.
  • Monitor and record patient conditions, utilizing computerized documentation systems as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other customers, maintaining cultural and diversity awareness.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
  • 1 year of oncology or radiation oncology nursing experience in a clinic and/or acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
  • Current certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
