We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapy Registered Nurse to join our team at Henrico Doctors' Hospital Forest. As a Radiation Therapy Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Cancer Center.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain medical histories from patient charts, update records as needed, and provide education to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
- Assess patients under treatment for current side effects, instruct patients and families on managing side effects, and coordinate patient care within the hospital and with physician offices.
- Participate in weekly quality assurance chart reviews, coordinate and assist with brachytherapy procedures, and provide education to patients and families as needed.
- Support patients and families, encourage problem-solving skills, and regularly discuss patient issues and concerns with the Cancer Center Social Worker.
- Prep charts for consults, reevaluations, and follow-ups, maintain a patient database of pending treatment, tests, and procedures, and review and communicate patient status to MDs.
- Triage patient and family phone calls, assist with patient registration, scheduling, and obtaining insurance authorizations as needed.
- Current Virginia license or license pending results of State Board or compact license.
- One year of oncology nursing experience and two years of medical-surgical nursing.
- Preferred OCN certification.
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing with current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Virginia.
- Preferred BSN degree or currently enrolled in BSN Program.
