Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Unit Specialist II to join our team at NorthShore University HealthSystem. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide administrative support to unit managers and assist with patient care in a psychiatric milieu.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to unit managers, including typing general correspondence, memoranda, and forms.
  • Assist with patient care, including preparing and maintaining a supply of unit-specific materials, conducting safety checks, and escorting patients to Edward as requested.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop materials to enhance psychoeducation and participate in program development actions as directed by the unit manager.
  • Respond to telephone or visitor inquiries with standard information and forward difficult and/or non-routine inquiries to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform related department duties, including entering data into the computer system, requisitioning and storing office supplies, and complying with facility safety, infection control, and security programs.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a Behavioral Health-related field, including a Bachelor's degree in Human Services.
  • Maintain information as highly confidential.
  • The ability to maintain professional boundaries and willingness to seek supervision.
  • The ability to identify escalating behavior.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computer software.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience providing direct patient care in a psychiatric milieu.
  • Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology.
  • Skills in teaching or assisting with activities of daily living.
  • Prior experience with therapeutic limit-setting and milieu management.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office software.
