The New York State Psychiatric Institute is on the lookout for a skilled individual to take on the role of Research Security Administrator. This full-time position is pivotal in identifying and implementing enhancements to processes related to the management and application of digital platforms utilized in human subject research.

Established in 1895, the New York State Psychiatric Institute has been at the forefront of integrating education, research, and therapeutic methodologies in the treatment of mental health disorders. The research conducted here spans a diverse range of topics, from fundamental neurobiology to clinical studies, epidemiology, child psychiatry, and service-related research. The institute is also home to numerous clinical trials addressing various mental health conditions, providing treatment within the framework of ongoing research studies.

Key Responsibilities:

The Research Security Administrator collaborates with the research community to ensure compliance with various regulations, including FDA standards, HIPAA, ICH/GCP guidelines, and GDPR, along with state and local regulations.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with Information Technology departments at both the Office of Mental Health and local psychiatric institutions to provide guidance and training to researchers.
  • Acting as a resource and expert for the research team to overcome challenges encountered during daily operations.
  • Coordinating with IT departments at research facilities and traveling to psychiatric locations to implement both in-person and online initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a Human Research Protections Program within an academic medical setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic data capture systems such as REDCap, Qualtrics, OnCore, or Medidata.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and data management.
  • One or more years of experience as a Clinical Research Associate or Research Coordinator.
