Position Overview: Absence Management Specialist

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluate leave requests, including Family Medical Leave (FMLA) and other unpaid leaves, ensuring compliance with client policies and relevant regulations. Maintain ongoing claim management that meets company standards and industry best practices.

KEY FUNCTIONS:
  • Establish and manage leave claims, ensuring documentation is tracked and coded per internal processes.
  • Analyze claims to determine eligibility and compliance with client policies and regulations.
  • Review claim information to identify action plans, determine benefits, and make timely decisions.
  • Communicate decisions and expectations clearly and professionally with claimants and clients.
  • Maintain professional relationships and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Meet the organization's quality program requirements.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience: Minimum one year of administrative or office experience required; experience in FMLA administration preferred.

Skills:
  • Knowledge of state and federal FMLA regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Analytical and interpretive abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in accordance with established policies.
  • Ability to meet performance competencies as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical: Ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer and phone system.
