Role of the Preconstruction Manager:
As a Preconstruction Manager in our California Buildings division, you will play a pivotal role in our team:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate winning strategies and fee structures for medium to large-scale projects, ensuring alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead the creation of conceptual estimates and design-build bid submissions for key clients, addressing complexities.
  • Develop strategies for budget proposals that safeguard both PCL's and the client's interests.
  • Engage in, and if necessary, spearhead ongoing budget revisions.
  • Oversee project design development and monitor working drawings for budget compatibility, completeness, constructability, lifecycle considerations, code compliance, and trade-scope integrity.
  • Complete as-bid estimates and collaborate with the operations team on trade procurement strategies.
  • Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with owners and design teams.
  • Manage multiple project estimates across various clients.
  • Advise management on strategic initiatives and opportunities for pursuit.
  • Participate in the project change management process and lead negotiations with owners or trade contractors.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
  • A postsecondary degree or diploma in engineering or a related field, or equivalent trade experience.
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating is preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple jobs on-site as a risk manager.
  • A proven track record of leading pursuits valued at over $250 million across various delivery models.
  • Experience with complex pursuits and a strong grasp of contract terms for different delivery models, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Experience in relationship management, promoting collaboration, and taking ownership of design and owner relationships.
  • Adeptness in estimating various scopes and familiarity with applicable products and systems.
  • The ability to identify and create opportunities, enhancing project fees and strategies.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies to advance technology and innovation in estimating and preconstruction workflows.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is between $145,000 - $189,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
