Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator - Water Infrastructure Projects to join our team at Flatiron Construction. As a key member of our preconstruction team, you will be responsible for preparing estimates for assigned construction disciplines, analyzing specifications and contract plans to determine cost-efficient quantities and construction practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, and other relevant sources into unit and person-hour figures.
  • Provide technical input regarding project and contract risks to the lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval.
  • Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of the scope of work, calculating material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions, and consulting with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
  • Monitor client addenda and advise the estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
  • Assist with design review options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
  • Partner with the estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between the pursuit team and project management team.
  • Research and recommend vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the construction industry, estimating, or cost control, preferably with specialized knowledge and experience in alternative construction delivery methods.
  • Required company or regulatory certifications and required company Safety certifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for clear and effective support research, recommendations, and pricing.
  • Strong technical writing skills and time management and prioritization skills to meet tight turnaround and bid deadlines.
  • Able to lead pursuit and estimating activities on a large or complex pursuit project.
