Job Overview

SOUTH BAY SANDBLASTING & TANK CLEANING, INC. is actively seeking a skilled Foreman to join our team. This position requires a dedicated individual with a strong focus on quality and productivity. The successful candidate will manage all facets of the job site and oversee projects, which include Mechanical Cleaning, System Flushes, Non-Skid application, and additional responsibilities as directed by management.

Key Responsibilities

The Foreman will be accountable for all assigned projects, which may involve:
  • Reviewing work specifications and materials.
  • Managing manpower and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Monitoring budget constraints while acting as a liaison with clients.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment with MSR counterparts.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Proven knowledge and experience in industrial ship repair and marine-related operations.
  • Ability to train, instruct, and supervise staff to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong leadership capabilities coupled with excellent customer service skills.
  • Preferred experience in shipyard/industrial settings, particularly with Navy vessels.
  • Competence in ordering necessary materials and interpreting schematics and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with Wafs and Tag Out processes.
  • Capability to adhere to both commercial and military standards while managing budgets.
  • Assisting in the cleanup of spills and removal of debris as per company guidelines.
  • Willingness to learn to operate company equipment as required.
  • Experience handling various products, including hazardous materials (training provided).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production quality processes and equipment.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Navy Ship Repair workload departments such as Non-Skid and Tank Cleaning.

Educational Background:
  • High school diploma or GED; additional qualifications such as a B.A., Technical/Vocational training, or apprenticeship are preferred.

Working Environment:

This role involves both indoor and outdoor work, often subject to varying weather conditions. Employees may work in environments with fumes, chemicals, and noise, particularly on vessels.

Safety equipment is mandatory. Candidates must be able to navigate inclined stairways and vertical spaces. The job can be physically demanding and may require flexibility in working hours.

Additional Requirements:

All candidates must undergo a pre-employment medical evaluation. Participation in E-Verify is required. Applicants must qualify for DBIDS security clearance and possess the ability to read technical English. U.S. Citizenship is preferred for certain positions.
