Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented EHS & QA Coordinator to support our Navy Operations in Norfolk, Virginia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading programs that protect people from environmental hazards and workplace hazards, while maintaining QA processes and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining QA processes and procedures
  • Coordinate QA inspections and testing
  • Maintain QA records, reports, and certifications
  • Support non-conforming material tracking and corrective actions
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Key Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety best practices and legal requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the workforce and management
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work to a timeline and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Two years of previous experience in EHS, QA, or related field
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Work is conducted indoors and outdoors frequently exposed to prevailing weather conditions. Work indoor or aboard vessel which may have fumes, chemicals, and heat as well as noise and dust present depending upon the location of work. Safety equipment required.

The individual must be able to frequently climb inclined stairways and vertical. Work aboard the vessels can be strenuous and sometimes hazardous. Dynamic, fast-paced outdoor setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.

Requirements:
  • Must be certified HAZWOPER, DOT Hazardous Materials, and RCRA Certified.
  • Must be able to qualify for DBIDS security clearance.
  • Ability to read technical English is a must.
  • U.S. Citizenship is preferred (for some work locations it is required). Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
