Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist and Specimen Processor to join our team at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Colorado. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for accurately collecting patient specimens for diagnostic testing while working in a professional medical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform phlebotomy (venipuncture, fingerstick, heelstick) according to established procedures
  • Identify patients using two patient identifiers and label specimens and specimen containers correctly
  • Collect and receive specimens into the laboratory, utilizing computer protocols for processing, preparation, centrifugation, aliquot, and routing of specimens
  • Ensure timely transport and processing of all patient specimens for testing
  • File patients' lab reports, requisition charges for the business office, and send reports to outside hospitals and clinics
  • Maintain required lab records and logs, collect statistics for reports, and perform other clerical duties as directed by manager
Requirements
  • Certified Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor: High School Diploma or equivalent and a certification from one of the following: RPT, AMT PBT, ASCP, AMT, NCCT, NAPT, NHA, NPA, ACA, ASPT, or NHCO
  • Non-Certified Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Qualifications: Six (6) months of laboratory experience
Physical Requirements
  • Interact with patients, patients' family, patient care providers, and others requiring verbal communication and understanding of spoken language
  • See and read lab equipment, labels, monitors, and documents
  • Walk while transporting phlebotomy equipment cart
  • Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work
  • Adjust body, including bending, to perform phlebotomy work
