Job Summary

As a Medical Assistant at UnitedHealth Group, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant - Patient Care Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepares patient and treatment rooms, ensuring a clean and safe environment for our patients.
• Rooms patients, obtains health history, and measures and documents vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, and weight.
• Documents patient care and medical history using NextGen electronic medical record (EMR) software.
• Assists physicians with minor, in-office procedures, and performs CLIA waived testing.
• Schedules appointments, completes prior authorizations, processes medication refills, handles referrals, and answers calls, all while maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Medical Assistant diploma, technical certificate, or certification, or 1+ years of experience performing the critical skills of a Medical Assistant after on-the-job training.
• Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or RMA) or willingness to attain certification within 9 months of start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPR certification.
• Active Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or RMA).
• Additional healthcare certifications, including ARRT, CEHRS, CBCS, CMAA, and CPT.
• Experience working as an MA or EMT in a primary care setting.
• Experience with NextGen or other electronic medical record (EMR) software.
• Experience performing medical back-office tasks, including injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis, and administering medications.
• Experience performing medical front-office tasks, including scheduling appointments, prior authorizations, medication refills, and referrals.
