Machinist - Steel Services Division Weekend Shift

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our Steel Services Division team on a weekend shift. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts to customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence, of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, horizontal mills, portable equipment, and vertical turret lathes.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
- Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
- Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly including teardown repairs.
- Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly.
- Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operations of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
- Develop specifications from general description and draw sketch part or product to be fabricated.
- Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Perform work safely and meet regulatory compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Requires a High School diploma or equivalent.
- One to three years of experience and/or training as a Journeyman Machinist; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Journeyman Certification is a preferred).
- Must possess excellent communication and people skills.
- Strong diligence required.
- Possess strong analytical skills.
- Works independently under the pressure of deadline commitments.
- Required understanding and comprehension of blueprints and designs from sketches.
- Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Flexibility in the work schedule is needed to meet overtime requirements.
