Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources & Operations Officer to join our team at the Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting the operational and administrative needs of our school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Planning: Develop and maintain the school's operational plan, ensuring alignment with our academic and cultural visions.
  • Team Management: Manage, coach, and develop GLOW's operations team members, including facilities, custodial, grounds, and vendors.
  • Maintenance and Renovation: Manage and oversee custodial maintenance and cleanliness, as well as the repair, renovation, and restoration of facilities and grounds.
  • Inspections and Projects: Oversee and facilitate operational inspections and projects, ensuring compliance with established regulations.
  • Safety and Security: Manage safety and security procedures in compliance with established regulations.
  • Technology Management: Oversee technology in collaboration with contracted service employees.
  • Employee Recruitment and Retention: Manage employee recruitment and retention, ensuring a high-performing team.
  • HR Compliance: Ensure schools are following and staying up to date on HR laws, state legislations, etc.
  • Professional Development: Provide annual professional development for staff around operations and human resources.
  • Best Practices: Work to centralize best practices via handbooks, toolkits, and playbooks.
  • Employee Benefits: Manage and maintain employee health benefits (enrollment, exceptions and claims etc.).
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of broad varied and increasingly responsible experience with budgeting, information systems, facilities management, Human Resources policies and organizational procedures.

  • Communication: Effective communication with supervisors, employees, peers, teachers, students, and parents.
  • Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Ability to be a self-starter and team player.

  • HR Knowledge: Law, policies and regulations pertaining to employee management and records.
  • Interpersonal: Dealing effectively and graciously with situations requiring tact and judgment.
  • Adaptability: Exercising patience, common sense, and good humor to thrive within the pressures, competing priorities and demands of a school office environment.
  • Communication: Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
