Position Overview

This role within the North Carolina Department of Transportation presents an opportunity for a dedicated individual to engage in a rewarding career in Human Resources. The HR Qualifications and Salary Administration team is seeking a motivated candidate to fulfill the responsibilities of a Human Resources Technician I. This team operates in a dynamic environment, consistently meeting various deadlines with precision and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

The primary function of this position is to act as a Human Resources professional focusing on qualification and salary management. Key duties include:
  • Reviewing and approving personnel actions within the Integrated HR Information System.
  • Providing support for job vacancy postings using the applicant tracking system.
  • Assisting HR Technician II's by evaluating job applications to assess applicant qualifications.
  • Collaborating with departmental staff to interpret and implement personnel policies and procedures.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Applicants should demonstrate experience and knowledge in the following areas:
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems.
  • Understanding of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Ability to interpret and apply HR principles, policies, and procedures, particularly in hiring and salary administration.
  • Experience in delivering customer service through various communication channels.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Candidates must meet the educational and experiential criteria, which may include:
  • An Associate's degree in Human Resources or a related field, with no prior experience required.
  • A high school diploma or GED, accompanied by two years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
