Job Description

Tarkett is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team in the Project Management Department. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in planning, directing, and coordinating projects in the bidding phase.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate multiple bids simultaneously in a given territory, establishing scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Help manage and control the contract process in conjunction with the Contract Administrator and client.
Pre-bid/Bidding/Planning:
  • Perform pre-bid activities, including procurement of necessary plans and specifications, scope review, and request for quotes from subcontractors.
  • Request Bid Bonds and provide technical sales support as applicable.
  • Provide material take-offs, pre-qualify subcontractors, and quantify and confirm synthetic turf pricing.
  • Review General and Supplemental Conditions and complete scope review and build estimate.
  • Submit Request for Information to Owner, A/E for bids and identify scope risk, making recommendations on how to mitigate risk.
  • Chair weekly conference calls with Regional Sales representatives to ensure bids are being tracked and update bid activity metrics.
  • Submit final bid package and assist with bid forms and qualify sub-trade proposals as applicable.
  • Chair bid reviews and verify that necessary critical documents, local rules, and permits are complete, delivered, and/or posted.
Requirements:
  • General construction knowledge, understanding specifications, drawings, materials, and methods and procedures.
  • Intermediate knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity takeoff procedures and systems, sub-trade partner procurement, pricing, interdepartmental functions, and bid-closing procedures.
  • Understanding of market conditions, business trends, internal historical information, and competitors.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders, including the ability to solicit sub-trade partners and suppliers.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate level of Excel).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments at once.
  • Close attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
