This role oversees the Spiritual Care Department, ensuring the delivery of exceptional pastoral care to patients, families, and staff. The position is responsible for fostering holistic, interdisciplinary care and leading engagement with faith communities.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provides leadership, direction, and direct spiritual care to patients, family members, staff, physicians, volunteers, and others in accordance with the standards set by the Association for Professional Chaplains.
  • Supervises the activities of Chaplains and other team members; evaluates performance, clarifies job expectations, assigns clinical tasks, and aids in goal setting; encourages collaboration among individuals and groups.
  • Creates and implements processes for recruitment, orientation, training, education, and evaluation to ensure the ongoing competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, and enhanced throughout their tenure.
  • Establishes and nurtures relationships with local congregations.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Master's degree in Theology, Divinity, Spirituality, Pastoral Ministry, Biblical Studies, Religious Studies, or Pastoral Care and Counseling is required; a Master of Divinity (M. Div.) is strongly preferred. A doctoral degree in a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.



EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a full-time chaplain is required; experience in healthcare chaplaincy is highly preferred.
  • Five (5) years of leadership experience in pastoral ministries, including roles such as pastor, associate pastor, youth pastor, counselor, or ministry leader, is preferred.
  • Five (5) years of leadership experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES,

LICENSES AND REGISTRATION REQUIRED:


  • Must possess and maintain Ecclesiastical Endorsement.
  • Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) from any recognized certifying organization (APC, NACC, ACPE, SCA, ACCC, NAVAC) is preferred.
  • Ordained clergy status is preferred.

4. Familiarity with congregational and denominational structures.
5. Awareness of community health resources.
6. Functional understanding of the religious principles of major faiths.
7. Capacity to reflect theologically on institutional matters.
8. Knowledge of organizational strategies and operational goals.
9. Expertise in coaching, counseling, and developing others.
10. Understanding of management principles, processes, and procedures.
