Position Overview

Avantax Planning Partners is in search of a Financial Planning Consultant to manage a designated portfolio of clients. This role involves expanding the client base through referrals and leads from affiliated CPAs. The Financial Planning Consultant will collaborate with a Financial Service Assistant (FSA) to streamline operations, enabling a focus on addressing client financial needs. The primary objective is to foster business growth for Avantax Planning Partners by identifying potential clients and working alongside our Planning Team to create a clear roadmap for clients to achieve financial security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with CPA firms.
  • Collaborate with affiliate CPAs to generate client leads for Investment Management, Life Insurance, Long-term Care Insurance, and other necessary services.
  • Work with Client Development Specialists to create strategic plans that identify leads and opportunities for both current and prospective clients.
  • Draft Investment Policy Statements in conjunction with CPAs and clients, assessing client needs and recommending suitable solutions.
  • Coordinate the necessary documentation with the support of the Financial Service Assistant to facilitate the opening of new accounts.
  • Engage with clients and CPAs to present tailored solutions, complete required paperwork, and ensure follow-through on processes.
  • Deliver timely and accurate reports to clients, CPAs, and Avantax Planning Partners.
  • Develop profitable new business relationships through regular client reviews, focusing on asset management and appropriate insurance product sales.
  • Proactively reach out to prospects and existing clients to initiate new business development and increase assets under management.
  • Provide analytical insights to company CPAs regarding investment, insurance, and annuity products as necessary.
  • Effectively communicate financial concepts to clients and offer informed recommendations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and changes.
  • Conduct workshops for clients as a means of prospecting and service enhancement.
  • Commit to continuous quality improvement.
  • Remain updated on evolving technology, including software and financial programs.
  • Adhere to and promote all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word, as well as internet navigation.
  • Experience with financial planning software is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Required: FINRA Series 7/66, or 63/65 combination.
  • Preferred: CFP certification.
  • Preferred: Insurance licenses, including Life, Health, and Long-term Care in select states.
  • Completion of ongoing Continuing Education credits is mandatory.
  • A valid Driver's License is essential.

Work Environment

  • Keying/typing, standing, and walking are part of the job.
  • Extended periods of sitting may be required.
  • Constant mental and/or visual attention is necessary; the work may be repetitive or varied, requiring ongoing alertness in an office setting.
  • The role is typically performed in comfortable working conditions, with minimal disagreeable elements.
  • Compliance with company attendance standards is expected.
