Reports To: Senior Registrar

Minimum Salary: $50,769.00

Role Summary:

The Associate Registrar for Exhibitions will collaborate closely with the Senior Registrar, Curatorial Department, and Art Preparators to ensure effective registrar support for both temporary and traveling exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the logistics of incoming and outgoing shipments, including packing and courier arrangements for exhibitions.
  • Review and manage loan documentation, including the preparation of Certificates of Insurance.
  • Create and maintain installation and deinstallation timelines, along with condition reports and packing documentation.
  • Generate receipts for incoming and outgoing shipments and maintain accurate shipping and crate lists.
  • Develop and manage shipping budgets in a timely manner.
  • Work in partnership with curators and exhibition managers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and accurately document expenses within the established budget.
  • Maintain an updated database of exhibitions and ensure all relevant data is complete.
  • Perform courier duties as required.
  • Assist with additional special projects as needed.
  • Adhere to national standards and best practices for art museums.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of three years of experience in a museum environment is essential.

Skills:

  • At least three years of experience in the registrar's department of an art museum or similar institution is preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field is required; an M.A. is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with collections management databases; TMS experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of standard museum practices and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency in a foreign language is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend, lift up to 25 lbs, climb stairs, and walk moderate distances.
  • Ability to remain stationary for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Mobility within the museum, including loading docks, vaults, and offices.
  • Capability to reach above shoulder height.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required.
  • Good color vision and depth perception, with the ability to adjust focus.
