Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Community Sports Coordinator to join our team at Howard County. This role is responsible for coordinating adult leagues, youth leagues, summer camps, and assigned community sport organizations in a self-sustaining environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates programs and services that promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among residents of all ages.
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies to promote programs and services.
  • Builds relationships with community partners and stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration and program development.
  • Provides excellent customer service to participants, partners, and the general public.
  • Monitors and reports on program outcomes and metrics.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management Marketing, Physical Education or related field required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in sports programming and operations preferred.
  • Experience overseeing or assisting with the oversight of sports leagues and special events desired.
  • Coaching certification from the American Sport Education Programs and valid driver's license required.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience comprised of interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems preferred.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. Must be able to work effectively in a team setting and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
