Job Summary

The Native American Housing Director will be responsible for leading our program efforts in rural communities and Tribal Nations across the country. This includes developing and managing programs, budgets, and staff to support affordable housing and community development activities in these regions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in real estate finance and development, program management, and staff supervision. They will also have a passion for serving Native American communities and a strong understanding of NAHASDA programs, USDA 502 mortgages, and other relevant housing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage programs, budgets, and staff to support affordable housing and community development activities in rural communities and Tribal Nations.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building resources to tribal partners, including TDHEs, THAs, and community-based organizations.
  • Deliver training and information to enhance the capacity of tribal partners to respond to their housing needs.
  • Manage relationships with funders, local communities, and other stakeholders to advance our mission and goals.
  • Supervise staff and provide guidance and support to ensure successful program implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree in real estate finance and development or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of related and progressive work experience in real estate and affordable housing development.
  • 5+ years of management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NAHASDA programs, USDA 502 mortgages, and other relevant housing initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and engagement.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate complex activities and meet deadlines.
