Position Overview

Isobar Public Sector is in search of a Kubernetes Subject Matter Expert (SME). The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and practical experience in designing, constructing, and managing scalable, cost-efficient, resilient, and secure cloud architectures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and managerial leadership on significant projects or technology assignments.
  • Establish objectives and strategies that align with project goals.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, cost-effective, resilient, and secure cloud architectures utilizing modern methodologies such as service mesh and loosely coupled design.
  • Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of containers through Infrastructure as Code principles across Development, Testing, and Production environments.
  • Design and implement network connectivity and provisioning strategies while assessing and designing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to ensure a robust cloud foundation that meets compliance standards.
  • Create containerized solutions for both relational and non-relational databases, focusing on data auditing, caching, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with fellow architects on security, data protection, and failover strategies.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implementations.
  • Design and implement Kubernetes solutions for cloud and edge environments.
  • Facilitate Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment using various CI/CD tools and container registries.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code for edge Kubernetes deployments.
Qualifications

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and possess or be eligible to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. A minimum of 8 years of experience with DevSecOps methodologies and tools, including CI/CD, GitOps, and both static and dynamic testing, is required. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience with edge and hybrid edge deployments, and 3 years of experience providing technical guidance in an Agile environment.

In-depth, hands-on experience with packaging and securing applications as containers and working within Kubernetes is essential. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in building scalable platforms for containerized workloads, including cluster provisioning, operations, workload optimization, custom controllers/operators, workflow orchestration, logging, monitoring, security, and troubleshooting.

Strong understanding of Kubernetes APIs, cluster architecture, services, and networking is required. Experience with GitOps and Continuous Deployment in hybrid environments is also necessary. Candidates should possess expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes, Istio, and Helm, including experience in creating custom Helm charts.

Advanced hands-on experience with bare metal deployments using technologies such as Proxmox, Redfish, PXE, CEPH, OPNSense, and MetalLB is preferred. Proficiency in Ansible playbooks and roles, as well as Linux administration, is required. Familiarity with Crossplane deployments and security compliance for Kubernetes is a plus.

Excellent client-facing and communication skills are essential. Certification as a Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) is advantageous.
