We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Nurse to join our team at St. John's Hospital. As a per diem nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and Prioritize Patient Care: Evaluate patients upon arrival, determine the severity of their condition, and prioritize care accordingly.
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Administer medications, perform procedures, monitor vital signs, and manage pain for patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries.
- Manage High-Stress Situations: Remain calm, focused, and decisive while providing care to multiple patients simultaneously during busy shifts or mass casualty events.
- Communicate Effectively: Collaborate with physicians to discuss patient changes, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology.
- Stay Up-to-Date with Regulations: Familiarize yourself with Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations and report child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and hospital social workers.
- Education and Support: Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions.
- Current RN License: Possess a current and valid state RN license.
- Certifications: Hold current BLS (AHA) certificate, ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire, Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire, and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire.
- Experience: Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting, with E.R. setting preferred.
- Certifications (Optional): Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
