Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects, analyzing project plans and specifications, and preparing detailed estimates for various trade packages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, and equipment costs
  • Analyze project plans and specifications to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate risks
  • Prepare detailed estimates for various trade packages, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry
  • Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure accurate and competitive pricing
  • Review and understand all bid documents and material requirements to assess constructability and product material requirements
  • Prepare bid packages and review all bids across subcontractors to ensure pricing comparisons are accurate and all missing items are recorded and accounted for
  • Develop estimates according to the requirements of multiple delivery systems
  • Review quotes and estimates with the project management team
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in a general contracting or construction management company
  • Proven track record of developing accurate and competitive cost estimates
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders
  • Proficient in estimating software and Excel, with the ability to self-sufficiently manage and analyze data
  • Experience with design-bid-build and design-build delivery methods
  • Ability to produce detailed estimates for 3-5 different trade packages
  • Experience with construction means and methods, costs, and engineering principles
  • Engages and coordinates with Estimators on the bid
  • Understands costs and market conditions
  • Accurately estimates time required to complete actions and activities
  • A motivated and driven individual with strong organizational and communication skills
  • Able to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure bidding environment
  • Advanced computer skills with estimating software
  • A desire to stay and grow with a company that will help mentor, train, and educate you

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, MEP Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Expertise in building construction
  • Experience in a competitive hard bidding environment
  • Experience bidding healthcare, and design-build projects
  • Experience with Davis Bacon-Prevailing wage or Union required projects
  • Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs, GSA, USACE, Army, Navy, NAVFAC
